Weekend Trip: Delhi to Rishikesh
Rishikesh is one of the easiest escapes from Delhi - close enough for a weekend, calm enough to feel a world away.
Rishikesh sits roughly 240 km from Delhi. By road it's around 6 hours via the Delhi-Dehradun route; the smoothest run is an early Saturday start to beat the traffic out of the city.
Prefer not to drive? Take a train to Haridwar and a short cab onward, or an overnight bus. Either way, you can leave Friday night or Saturday morning and be by the Ganga in time for lunch.
A simple 2-day plan. Day 1: settle in, an easy riverside walk, café time in Tapovan, and evening Ganga Aarti. Day 2: sunrise on the terrace, white-water rafting or a short trek, then a relaxed drive back with a full heart.
Book a stay with a kitchen and a balcony so your weekend feels unhurried - the whole point of getting out of the city.
